Why do people bash on Catholics?

Sometimes posters don't realize their statements are heavy-handed. I emailed a Reformed Christian article to my son and his reply was, "Have any more Catholic-Bashing articles, Mom?" Oops..never meant for him to get that impression and I don't want to disillusion him altogether on Christianity.
