Why do people worship celebrities?

I've worked in the entertainment industry, and I've seen what makes these people popular. The real geniuses are the people behind them doing all the work. The managers, publicists, and other business pro's. Are people that maniuplated by tv? What do you see in them that would drive you to make fake facebook pages, and fake twitter accounts, or spend all of your time in a day talking about a celebrity or being part of "their team" which is really something you just made up for yourself. Between Lady Gaga, Bieber, and other fans some people are just flat out crazy and have tons of issues. It's disturbing and borderline pathetic actually. That people would trade their life, and their time to worship the vapid adventures of people who are only interested in themselves and their own careers. Why must people be so sheep-like? Do you think all of these celebs are truly better than you? Is that what you really believe? Do you honestly believe they are smarter, harder working, and ALL of them are more talented? Did you ever stop to think that maybe they were simply just exposed to more opportunity? What is this obsession with being "famous" at any cost? I really don't get it. I mean I get it, but it's just pathetic. It's sickening.
